Terms & Conditions
Last updated 27 August 2026
These terms govern your use of The National Roundabout Register and the adoptions it sells. By adopting a roundabout you agree to them. They're written to be read; nothing here takes away rights the law gives you as a consumer.
1. What this is
An adoption is a novelty gift, sold for entertainment. It confers no legal rights, ownership, obligations, or right of way over any actual roundabout. Every roundabout remains the property and responsibility of the relevant highways authority, which is not involved in this service and does not know you exist. We are an independent service and are not affiliated with any local authority, highways body, or official adoption or sponsorship scheme.
2. What you receive
For your fee you receive a bundle of four personalised documents — a Certificate of Adoption, a Surveyor's Report, a Custodian's Handbook, and a Locality Plate — delivered as PDFs and yours to keep for good, and an entry on the public National Roundabout Register under your chosen name, alias, or anonymously.
3. Exclusivity
Each roundabout has one adopter at a time, enforced automatically. Your entry stands for as long as the Register stands. We maintain the online Register on a best-efforts basis; should it ever have to close, we will wind it down gracefully and your delivered documents remain yours and entirely unaffected. We don't guarantee that the online Register will remain available forever.
4. The name you choose
You are responsible for the name or alias you submit. We may refuse, hold for review, edit, or remove any name that is offensive, unlawful, defamatory, that impersonates a person, organisation or authority, that infringes someone's rights, or that contains contact details, links, or advertising. Where a name breaches this we may withhold or reverse the listing, and no refund is due for a name we couldn't reasonably publish.
5. Removals
The Register lists public roundabouts drawn from open map data. Any local authority, highways body, or landowner may ask us to remove a roundabout by writing to support@adoptaroundabout.co.uk. On a request verified as coming from the authority or landowner in an official capacity, we retire the entry promptly.
6. Cancellation and refunds
Your documents are digital and are produced and delivered to you immediately after purchase. By buying, you ask us to begin delivery straight away and acknowledge that, once delivery has begun, you lose the statutory 14-day right to cancel digital content under the Consumer Contracts Regulations. This does not affect your rights if what you receive is faulty or not as described. Beyond that, refunds are considered on a case-by-case basis at our discretion — if something has gone wrong, write to support@adoptaroundabout.co.uk and we'll look into it.
7. Gifts
If you adopt as a gift, you provide the recipient's email so we can send them a link to claim their entry. The name you enter appears on the private certificate you're giving; the recipient decides for themselves how (or whether) they appear on the public Register when they open their link.
8. Price and payment
Prices are shown on each roundabout's page. Payment and checkout are handled by Lemon Squeezy as merchant of record; their terms also apply to the transaction.
9. Our responsibility to you
This is a novelty service provided “as is”. To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you in connection with an adoption is limited to the amount you paid for it. Nothing in these terms limits or excludes any liability that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded, including your statutory rights as a consumer.
10. Map data
Roundabout locations and geometry are derived from OpenStreetMap. Data © OpenStreetMap contributors, licensed under the Open Database License (ODbL).
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and disputes fall to the courts of England and Wales.
The National Roundabout Register is a trading name of Christopher Wedge, 61 Bridge Street, Kington, HR5 3DJ. Questions? Write to support@adoptaroundabout.co.uk.
